Mechano-Immunomodulation
In recent years, it is acknowledged that the response of innate immune cells to the tissue-engineered scaffold and tissue environment is as important as creating an ideal tissue scaffold for healing and regeneration. Yet, the effect of the mechanical environment around the tissues is generally ignored in innate immune cell differentiation and function. Towards this end, we started to use our expertise in mechanobiology-based stem cell differentiation to mechanobiology-based macrophage polarization in the framework of mechano-immunomodulation.
